| Sustainable Energy and CO2 4Evergreen always endeavours to do business whilst being committed to corporate responsibility. This also applies to our power consumption. Therefore, there are combined heat and power systems/gas engines on all 4Evergreen locations. Combined heat and power systems This means that sustainable energy is generated and hardly any energy is wasted. In total, 4Evergreen supplies power of 8 combined heat and power systems from all branches. These 8 combined heat and power systems generate 21 MWh of electricity in total. This is enough to supply about 21,000 households with electricity. 4Evergreen participates in a company called KasEnergy, which has been set up by different large entrepreneurs, who jointly generate the electricity on the grid. Horticulture already supplies over 15% of the total Dutch power needs. |

The heat and carbon dioxide (usually only a waste product in the incineration process) from the combined heat and power systems is used in the glasshouses to grow the plants.
