Processing and PackagingThe time-frame between cutting the sweet peppers off the plants and delivering them to our customers is very short. This is because 4Evergreen grows, sorts, packages and then delivers the sweet peppers to customers itself. The entire process is completed in a very short time-frame, which means that 4Evergreen can deliver its sweet peppers with the best possible freshness guarantee. Sweet peppers that still hang from plants today can be in supermarkets by tomorrow.
Which colour the sweet pepper will become depends on the type; there is a different colour for each type. After they are cut off the plants, the sweet peppers are transported to a 3500m² packaging hall in automatic transport lorries. When the sweet peppers are ripe, they are cut off the plants. This means that the sweet peppers have the right size and colour. An unripe sweet pepper is green, after 5 to 6 weeks it changes colour to red, yellow or orange.
Many sweet peppers are sold individually in stores, but also packaged in film. 4Evergreen has set up machinery to package the sweet peppers. 4Evergreen packages sweet peppers singly but also in pairs and by 3 or 4. In the case of 2 or more sweet peppers, it usually is a combination of several colours also called a sweet pepper mix.
